GainSeeker® Modules put the Function where you need it

The GainSeeker Suite is made up of program modules that perform separate functions. You can customize which modules are available to each user, and you only need to purchase licenses for the modules you plan to use.

GainSeeker module descriptions

Module

Enables you to…

Administration (required)

This module provides the tools needed to:

  • Manage GainSeeker user logins and system security
  • Administer multiple data sets
  • Configure the system to meet your company's requirements
  • Simplify and automate GainSeeker system maintenance

Client/Server Database (required)

A client/server database such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or Pervasive.SQL is required for data storage and system configuration. You may use GainSeeker on your existing client/server database, or you can purchase the Pervasive.SQL database through Hertzler Systems.

Enterprise Dashboard

Enterprise Dashboard makes real-time data more visible, accessible, and actionable. It helps you focus your attention on critical issues and then gives you one-click access to the underlying data. Enterprise Dashboard rolls up complex processes into convenient, easy-to-understand graphics and tables.

SPC Data Entry

This module is used to gather data such as product or process measurements, cycle times, test results, etc., and then store the data in the GainSeeker database. This highly customizable system can capture data from virtually any device and integrates well with other information systems. It also provides real-time analytical statistics on new data. When a process changes or a special cause is identified, this module can generate alarms and communicate with people, hardware and other software systems.

SPC Charts and Reports

This module is used for variable SPC analysis and reporting. Some of the most important features include:

  • Standard SPC charts, statistics, and other tools for understanding your process data
  • A powerful relational database that makes it easy to analyze the same data in very different ways
  • Unique drill-down capabilities that help you find root causes of variation
  • Built-in report writer with unlimited customizable report formats
  • "Send to…" feature that makes it easy to share charts with colleagues and customers or to view the data in another program

DMS Data Entry

This Defect Management System module is used to gather attribute data where problems are counted, not measured. Visual defects on a part, reasons for late shipments and associated costs, and errors on a paper form are just a few examples of data collected with this module. It provides a human interface for capturing attribute data, with special support for bar code and touch screen data entry.

DMS Charts & Reports

This Defect Management System module is used for attribute data analysis and reporting. Some of the most important features include:

  • Unique multi-level Pareto charts that help you drill down to root causes of variation
  • Standard charts, statistics, and other attribute SPC tools for understanding your process data
  • Continuous improvement charts that help you to track improvement against a goal
  • A powerful relational database that makes it easy to analyze the same data in very different ways
  • "Send to…" feature that makes it easy to share charts with colleagues and customers or to view the data in another program

SPC Designer

Use this module to build customized data entry routines that meet your unique data entry needs. Step-by-step wizards help you build the data entry interface, and a powerful scripting language gives you complete control over the data entry process.

Our consultants use the SPC Designer to build custom interfaces for our clients. We also encourage customers to use this module to design and modify their own data entry routines.

SPC Database Monitor

Do you need to see at a glance how everything is running in your organization? Designed for the manufacturing environment where real-time notification of special events and process shifts is critical, this system pulls the alarms for the entire variable SPC system into one easy-to-use screen so you can track everything at one time. If a problem occurs, you can drill into the data to see what’s going on. You can even use this screen to track which events have resulted in corrective action.

Note Manager

This module helps you manage your response to out-of-specification conditions and special cause (out-of-control) situations. The GainSeeker data entry modules automatically identify these situations and prompt you to identify events and assignable causes. The Note Manager gives you tools for summarizing and reporting these events, the assignable causes, and the actions taken.

WebSPC Client

WebSPC makes it possible to share SPC charts and reports with suppliers, customers or colleagues over the internet. With WebSPC, you can provide On-Demand Data — the capability for supervisors (with proper access rights) to query the GainSeeker database from remote locations (such as corporate headquarters) and generate new SPC charts and reports as needed. Whether it's a monthly report or a real-time chart, WebSPC makes quality data available to those who need it, when they need it.

OPC Client

OLE for Process Control (OPC) is an industry standard that enables computers to talk to other computers and to process control equipment on the manufacturing information network. The GainSeeker OPC Client allows you to capture data from any OPC-compliant device and to send information back to the device.

Syscon Plantstar Interface

Syscon Plantstar provides production monitoring systems for the plastics industry. Hertzler Systems has developed a custom interface to their databases, providing long term data storage as well as comprehensive statistical analysis tools.

Zumbach Client

Zumbach Corporation makes premium noncontact laser measurement systems for use in extrusion processes such as plastics, rubber and glass. Hertzler Systems has developed a custom Zumbach gage interface that captures this data, generates real time alarms for process owners, and stores the data in the GainSeeker database.

Pay for concurrent use, not named users

Each GainSeeker module is licensed by the number of concurrent users. Concurrent use refers to how many workstations are logged in to one GainSeeker module at the same time, not the number of workstations on which the GainSeeker client can be installed.

For example, you may have 40 or 50 workstations where you expect users to enter data into GainSeeker SPC at some point in the day, but you estimate that you'll never have more than 25 people using that module at the same time. In this case, you only need a 25-seat concurrent use license for the SPC Data Entry module. You can install the GainSeeker client on an unlimited number of workstations, but GainSeeker will only allow up to 25 people to use the SPC Data Entry module at the same time.

Enterprise licensing and lease options also available

In addition to modular licensing, Enterprise licensing and lease options are also available. Contact your sales representative for more information.
