New Dynamic Reports module

For years, our customers have been asking us for a more powerful and flexible report writer. Version 8.0 answers this request with the new Dynamic Reports module.

The Dynamic Reports module gives you complete control of how you view data. It is a Crystal Reports-style tool that enables users to define every aspect of a report and then publish that report on a periodic basis. This tool will be especially useful for GainSeeker users who need to publish Certificates of Analysis for their customers. The tool connects to the raw data in the GainSeeker database and uses GainSeeker’s statistical tools to calculate summary statistics. This means that a single report can include both raw data and summary statistics.

The sample shown to the right (click to open a full-sized version in a new window) combines variable and attribute data on a single page, with a Sparkline chart, summary information, and color-coded Pass/Fail information on a single page.

The sample shown to the left (click to open a full-sized copy of the report in PDF format in a new window) includes a photograph of a complex manufactured product. Summary statistics are called out and reported immediately adjacent to their location on the product to give the customer an an easy-to-understand summary of each shipment they receive. The Dynamic Reports module automatically updates this report with the current information, saving the user many hours of cutting and pasting data into Excel or Word.

Designing reports requires knowledge of both GainSeeker and the conventions of report writer tools. For customers who are already familiar with a report writer such as Crystal Reports, this will not be difficult.
