Dashboard and Analysis Enhancements

In addition to the major new features outlined on the previous pages, we've added several new analysis capabilities. Here is a list of our favorites:

Enterprise Dashboard has several nice enhancements. The most important one is the new ability to include graphics and HTML content on KPI gage dashboards, in addition to the dial and bar gages that have been available on dashboards for some time. In the example to the right (click to display an enlarged graphic in a new window), we have a dashboard with several dial gages reporting key product and process parameters, another dial gage for the yield, and a Pareto chart of defect reasons.

Another nice feature is the addition of Sparklines to Real-Time Failure dashboards. Sparklines are tiny graphics - essentially tiny run charts - that enable users to track results over time. They take up very little real estate so you can pack a lot of information in to a small space.

The example on the left (click to display in full size in a new window) shows a collection of process and product data with summary statistics and a small run chart of the last 50 points so you can see trends over time.

Finally, the new Dashboard release adds enhanced support for Short Run SPC. Users can drill into a dashboard and draw charts from rows that are defined by traceability, not just part number.

Another analysis feature new to Version 8 is the statistic for Rolled Throughput Yield (sometimes called "Cumulative Yield") now available in the DMS Charts & Reports module. Rolled Throughput Yield takes all the processes and multiplies the yields. This feature has been requested frequently in recent months because it provides a more accurate representation of the quality of your processes.

The Defect Management system also adds a new bar chart for Defect Cost. This chart shows the cost of defects, defective parts, downtime, etc. over a period of time. (Click on the image on the right to see a full-sized sample in a new window.) In the sample chart shown here, the top chart shows a total cost of defects per week while the bottom chart shows the cost per defect reason over the whole period.

On the variable side, several new statistics have been added, including Sigma Level and counts of product above, below, in and outside gates.

Both systems have new options for pre-defined date periods, including user-selected for specific year, quarter, month and week.
