Cool Stuff

With about six dozen enhancements in GainSeeker® Suite 7.5, there are lots of ways to organize the enhancement list. We asked Hertzler's Alpha Geek, Byron Shetler, for his list of top five enhancements. Here is what he told us are his personal favorites:

5. Restrict part number list

"This feature will give customers a whole new way of getting at their data. Over the years I've heard from customers that they want to see only the list of parts that are running today, or only those parts that contain a specific material lot number. The restrict feature is simple to use, and it makes it easier to get to what ever is important to you." Learn more

4. Chart data from clipboard (chart external data)

"Being able to copy data from any source into the Windows clipboard, and then paste it into a chart is really cool." Learn more

3. Flexible desktops

"For some of our customers, especially those with a lot of users, this is going to be huge. I really love the idea of being able to reuse something. It's always bugged me that you had to have one desktop for each part number. Flexible desktops get rid of that restriction and really simplifies reporting data." Learn more

2. Database integration wizard

"I feel like I should make this Number 1, because we spent so much time on it, but there is one feature I'll use even more. But this one rates pretty high up there and I'm pretty happy with how much work it does for you. Probably the best thing about the DIW is that it gives you a good, standard structure for writing templates. Coming up with that structure is sometimes the hardest thing about writing a template. This takes care of 90% of the basic template plumbing, and also makes writing SQL queries so much easier. It is really powerful stuff." Learn more

1. Debug window enhancments

"I know this is a disconnect to our customers, but you asked me for my list. The Debug Window Enhancements - especially the Execute button - is the feature that I'll use the most. I love it. I'm a lot more productive when I write templates because it gives me so much more information about what is going on behind the scenes. Learn more
