GainSeeker® 7.201 Maintenance Release

Description

This document lists the revisions made to GainSeeker Suite in the maintenance release 7.201. If you are currently using version 7.100 or greater and are experiencing one of the issues listed below, you may download this release. See the download instructions at the bottom of this document for running this password-protected installation. If you are not currently using version 7.100 or greater you will experience problems if you apply this release.

Database changes

  1. GainSeeker DMS data retrievals optimized for speed.
Another index was needed for the DData table in GainSeeker DMS 7.2 to optimize speed. The DData table contains key DMS data, including DMS process and part number data. In GainSeeker Suite 7.2, when all part numbers for a process were chosen, the program would mistakenly do a complete table scan, making retrieval times longer. The additional index has been added to DData in maintenance release 7.201 to improve the speed of data retrieval. The Table Creation Utility also checks to make sure DData contains the additional index (in both Btrieve and ODBC), and creates one if it does not.
  2. Table Creation Utility now uses general database owner property for new SQL Server tables.
In GainSeeker Suite 7.2, the Table Creation Utility would assign the name of the logged-in user to newly created SQL Server tables, making them unavailable to other users. This is corrected in maintenance release 7.201 so that "dbo" (database owner) is applied to all new SQL Server tables.

SPC data conversion

  1. GainSeeker Suite data conversion does not convert Procbig table correctly.
In a GainSeeker SPC 5.3 to GainSeeker Suite conversion, the Conversion Utility did not correctly convert the Procbig table, which stores the process specification records. This has been corrected in maintenance release 7.201.

All modules

  1. GainSeeker SPC Charts & Reports module and Data Entry module exit when printing
When using the Sendto Printer option in the SPC Charts & Reports and Data Entry modules of GainSeeker Suite 7.2, sometimes the program would give errors and the current module would exit. This has been corrected in maintenance release 7.201.

DMS charts and reports

  1. Run-time error occurs when scaling a DPU logarithmically
In GainSeeker Suite 7.2, trying to scale a DPU chart logarithmically caused a RTE 5, "Invalid procedure call or argument," to be displayed. This was because the program was trying to take the log of zero, an impossibility, causing the program to exit. This has been corrected in maintenance release 7.201.
  2. Drill-down action in the GainSeeker DMS Charts & Reports module pauses indefinitely.
Occasionally when doing drill-down studies in the DMS Charts and Reports module of GainSeeker Suite 7.2, the program displays the hourglass icon and pauses indefinitely. When the user tried to click something else, a run-time error is given. This has been corrected in maintenance release 7.201.

SPC charts and reports

  1. GainSeeker SPC Charts & Reports module does not sort data in ascending order until filters are reapplied.
In GainSeeker Suite 7.2, some users were unable to sort data in ascending order the first time multiple filters were applied to data; instead having to go back and reapply each filter. This has been corrected in maintenance release 7.201.
  2. Empty traceability fields in column reports of GainSeeker SPC 7.2
In GainSeeker Suite 7.2, the SPC Charts & Reports module produced an error when creating column reports. The traceability fields of the reports would be empty as the result of inconsistencies in the indices. This has been corrected in maintenance release 7.201.

SPC data entry

  1. Templates give run-time error from the DMS tab in GainSeeker SPC Data Entry module.
In GainSeeker Suite 7.2, creating templates that begin with a traceability column set to drop-down could automatically cause a RTE 91 in the GainSeeker SPC Data Entry module. These error messages appeared when the user tried to click on the DMS tab with the drop-down list for the selected traceability column displayed. This error did not appear when the hot key was used to access the DMS tab. This error has been corrected in maintenance release 7.201.
  2. GainSeeker SPC Data Entry module will not allow operators to exit when DMS tab is in use.
GainSeeker Suite 7.2 allows administrators to deny operators rights to exit a module; however, trying to exit the GainSeeker Data Entry module when using a template that later will ask for entry of DMS data causes an error. This was due to conflicting user rights. This error has been corrected in maintenance release 7.201.
  3. Logout command loops indefinitely
In the SPC Data Entry module of GainSeeker Suite 7.2, certain variations of the Logout command in templates would cause the Login dialog to appear immediately after logging out and would continuously loop to display that dialog. This has been corrected in maintenance release 7.201.
  4. DB_Set template commands cannot be completed when GainSeeker DMS is not installed.
Templates that used the new Data Buffer commands to create SPC standards in GainSeeker Suite 7.2, would not execute when GainSeeker DMS was not also present on the user's system. This was because the GainSeeker SPC Data Entry module would fill the Data Buffer and expect to find DMS tables that weren't there. This has been corrected in maintenance release 7.201.
  5. Data Buffer does not reset properly.
In GainSeeker Suite 7.2, using the Data Buffer commands combined with Q_commands was problematic, since the software does not automatically clear Data Buffer and refresh the Defect Description, Event, EventCA, Cause and Action Taken lists. As a result, two new template commands have been added in maintenance release 7.201 to allow the user to clear the fields in the Data Buffer and clear the lists as needed: DB_Reset and Reset_List.
  6. Corrective Action lists using API give run-time error.
When using the Application Programming Interface (API) from the WebSPC Data Entry module to return one of the corrective action lists in GainSeeker SPC 7.2, a run-time error was given. This has been corrected in maintenance release 7.201.

SPC database monitor

  1. Red Failure Monitor does not flash when records limited with Count dialog.
The red Failure Monitor should flash every time there is a real-time failure, but sometimes in GainSeeker Suite 7.2 the monitor would not flash when limits were placed on the number of records using the Count dialog. This has been corrected in maintenance release 7.201 so that the monitor will flash for every RTF.
