Tech Tip: RS232 and Device profiles in Inspection Editor!!!

One of GainSeeker's best features is reading data from RS232 devices. I hope our current customers utilize this feature. If you have RS232 gauges, but not connected to GainSeeker, you are missing out on being more productive!!! Why make the operators type in the same data the gauges are displaying when we can program to read the data right from the device?!

Tech Tip: Desktop Slideshow now with version 8.5!

Now, with a Desktop opened, you can click on Desktop->Slideshow at the top of the Charts Module and start a slideshow of all the charts in your Desktop! There are options for transition effects between the charts. The options let you control how long to keep each chart up before going to the next one in the list, etc.

Tech Tip: It’s in the Audit Trail…

The Audit Trail has been a part of GainSeeker since the early versions of GainSeeker. This useful module hardly gets noticed. When I train on the System Administration module / Utility module I make sure to focus on this little hidden gem! The Audit Trail makes it easy to see who changed the Specification Limits of a Standard, or who edited or deleted data.

Tech Tip: Why is my CPK not the same as “The Other” software?

If you are in the manufacturing world, measuring process capability ( Cpk ) is extremely important. That's because you're always striving to improve your numbers. It is no wonder people are very curious as to how their Cpk gets calculated in GainSeeker. If GainSeeker's Cpk does not match someone else's calculation of Cpk... we (the technicians) get a call. Believe it or not the technicians at Hertzler Systems receive this question quite a bit. So, why does this happen?

Send to PowerPoint…

In GainSeeker Version 8.2, "Send to PowerPoint" loads PowerPoint and pastes whatever you're sending into a new slide. In prior releases you could get there, but you had to send the chart to the clipboard, and then flip to PowerPoint and paste it into a slide. . . .

Normal Probability Plot…

The Normal Probability Plot chart gives you an easy-to-view answer to the question: "Can we meet our target?" You can get to this information by displaying specifications on the chart, and then looking at where the diagonal line crosses those specifications.
