Hertzler systems wins clean air award
for solar panel installation
Hertzler Systems Inc., Goshen, In., an SPC software provider, is one of three recipients to receive the Partners for Clean Air Award for 2014 from the Michiana council of Governments (MACOG) in northern Indiana.
Hertzler Systems Inc. has made a substantial investment in reducing its carbon footprint through Northern Indiana Public Service Company’s (NIPSCO) Feed-in-Tariff program that “buys back” electrical power from customers that are generating their own clean energy. Nearly 50 solar panels were installed . . .
Hertzler Systems is proud to host the website for the Goshen Community Clean Water Project, a collaborative effort between Goshen College and the City of Goshen (Indiana) Parks and Recreation. Community volunteers regularly sample water from the Elkhart River Basin as it flows through our community. Prior to our involvement, this data was stored on spreadsheets on a personal computer. We use our proprietary technology and core competencies to publish dashboards and data visualization tools to make this data visible and accessible to our community on the Internet.
In 2009 we planted nearly 600 tree seedlings on a one-acre plot of land behind our headquarters, creating a new woods in an industrial park. This land was undeveloped and a wasteland of weeds and poison ivy. The trees, some nearly 12’ tall, now provide shelter for birds and other wildlife. They will continue to sequester carbon to help offset our company’s carbon footprint.
In addition to corporate charitable contributions to local arts, sports, and youth programs, our principals are personally involved on several local charitable boards of directors.
