Retrieval tab

By clicking the Session menu and then clicking Retrieval Settings, you can specify how the program should retrieve the most recent data that is displayed during data entry.

Control chart data

In PDA mode, these are the only options available on the Retrieval Settings screen.

Set this option to the number of most recent data points you want to display on real-time control charts during data entry. Valid numbers of data points to display are 1 to 32000.

The number of data points displayed on control charts must be less than or equal to the number of data points used to calculate control limits (below).

Control limits in the program are always calculated from the data set retrieved.  Set this option to the number of most recent data points you want to retrieve for calculating control limits. This number is also used for calculating the other statistics displayed on the Statistics tab (if available) or printed with the chart.

Valid numbers of data points for calculations are 1 to 32000.  The number of data points for calculations must be equal to or greater than the number of data points displayed on control charts (above).

You can choose to recalculate the control limits on your chart at regular intervals, based on the number of new data points entered during the data entry session.

Note:  On workstations performing only unattended data collection (e.g., from machines, text files, etc.), the data processing will be faster if you set this to recalculate control limits every 0 new data points. The program runs faster because it does not re-retrieve the data after every n new data points.

Period

This setting limits the data retrieved for real-time charts and statistics, based on the date and time stamps of the data records.

To change the period for retrievals used in data entry sessions, select a time period from the Period list.

Note:  Changes you make to this setting are only temporary and will remain in effect until you exit the Data Entry module. If you want to change this setting permanently, you must update the default period for data entry in the Administration module.

Anchor point

This is the number of anchor points to display during data entry. Choose a number from the list, or type a number from 1 to 999. Selecting a number will make the time settings (below) available.

Set the length of time to check for the last data subgroup entered before the specified Anchor point. You may type a number from 0 to 999 and select units of minute(s), hour(s), and day(s).
