Switch between run mode and design/edit mode

There may be times when you want to switch between run mode and design/edit mode, such as when you are making changes to a dashboard and want to view them in run mode.

To switch to design/edit mode from a running dashboard:

  1. Right-click a dashboard that is open in run mode.

  2. Click Design Dashboard in the menu.

In the foreground, a copy of the dashboard will open in design/edit mode.

Any timers set on this dashboard will be paused while the dashboard is open in design/edit mode.

To save edits to a dashboard that was switched to design/edit mode from a running dashboard and redraw them in run mode:

  1. Right-click on the dashboard in design/edit mode.

  2. Click Save and Close on the menu.

  3. Click OK on the Save complete dialog box that opens (opens with the Save and Close option only).

The dashboard will redraw in run mode, reflecting changes you saved to it in design/edit mode.

Please Note: If you used Dashboard Edit/Open, Desktop Edit/Open, or a shortcut to open the dashboard with changes to the data retrieved, those changes will be displayed as long as dashboard window stays open - even if you edit the dashboard and change its retrieval settings. You can see the true results of your dashboard changes by using the Open Dashboard window to open this dashboard (without using the Edit/Open button).

To switch to run mode from a dashboard that was opened in design/edit mode from the Open Dashboard dialog box:

  1. Right-click a dashboard that is in design/edit mode.

  2. Click Save and Close or Discard changes on the menu.

  1. Click OK on the Save complete. dialog box that opens (with the Save and Close option only).

The Open Dashboard dialog box opens.

  1. Select the dashboard name from the list and click Open.

The dashboard opens in run mode.
