Legacy Defect Tracking Data Entry Module

Old Defect Tracking (DMS Data Entry Module):

The picture on the left is GainSeeker’s Defect Management System (DMS) Data Entry. This legacy module was great for enabling users to get up and going with defect tracking without having to learn any template code writing skills.  It worked out-of-the-box. The only prerequisites were to create your process(es), defects, and standards.

Throughout the years customers asked for options. They wanted to omit some of the traceability fields from showing, or wanted to force the operators to fill out a few of the traceability fields. How about forcing a note if a defect was found?  Any deviation from what you would see in the “Legacy” picture above would require utilizing a template and some template writing skills.  (One of the cool things with Templates, you could make just about anything happen… any way you wanted it to.  Oh yeah, and you still can!)

New Defect Tracking (PC Collect):

In GainSeeker version 8.4 we released the first version of PC Collect. Exciting times! (An example picture is on the right). In my own “tech” opinion, PC Collect became popular quickly because creating “Inspections” to use with defect tracking is something that could be done without needing to be a programmer or template guru.  The interface is more user friendly with properties the user can change by pointing and clicking on the right hand side of the screen.  This structure is similar to our GainSeeker Dashboards.  What makes this even more inviting is being able to easily use a Windows based Tablet (that has the full version of Windows on it), or an iPad with our Web Services package.

If you have our version 8.4 or newer (today we’re shipping 8.5.2) and you have not taken the time to look at Inspections or PC Collect, then I urge you to contact your Account Manager to get the latest scoop on this awesome new module.

Still have a question?  Use our Ask an Expert page. If you do not have GainSeeker yet I would urge you to schedule a demo!  Oh, and do not forget to them that Jen sent ya.
