Automatically selecting the login name

There are several ways to set up your system so that the GainSeeker login screen automatically selects a particular user or group name.

In most cases, if no password is required to log in to the selected module, GainSeeker will automatically log in without displaying the login screen. Otherwise, the program will automatically select this user or group name and then wait for the user to enter the password.

These methods are listed in order of system precedence:

Configure an icon with the user or group name

Individual GainSeeker icons on one workstation

Yes

If this type of icon is launched with a valid user or group name, the methods listed below are ignored.

This method is practical for a workstation where only a few people log in to a few GainSeeker modules.

For instructions, see Setting up shortcuts for automatic functions.

Set the user or group name for the workstation and network login

One workstation

Yes

If the workstation and network login has been configured with a valid user or group name, the methods listed below are ignored.

This method is practical for a workstation where only one user or group name is used to log in to GainSeeker modules.

For instructions, see User_Name=.

Create user or group names to match network login names

GainSeeker workstations across the network

Yes

If the network login name matches a valid user or group name, the method listed below is ignored.

This method is practical when a GainSeeker user has a unique network login name and needs to use GainSeeker at many workstations.

For instructions, see User or Group Names.

Note: For additional security options using this method, see Require network ID at login.

Remember the last name used to log in to GainSeeker on this workstation

All remaining GainSeeker icons, workstations, and networked users

No

If none of the above methods are used, GainSeeker automatically applies this method.

If the last user or group name used is no longer valid, the GainSeeker login screen will automatically select the first user or group name in the list.

For instructions, see User_Last=.

You can use a combination of these methods across your network and on individual workstations.

For example, one workstation can have Redirect.hsi configured for the user or group name that is used most often at that workstation. However, that same workstation can have several GainSeeker icons configured with a second user or group name.

Note: At this time, it is not possible to automatically select the login name for GainSeeker WebViz.
